We\'ve seen stretches of beautiful weather punctuated by unseasonably cool spells, intense heat waves, and frequent storms. That unpredictability feels a lot like life in emergency medicine: brief lulls followed by sudden bursts of high volume and acuity. But summer also offers a chance for many of Elizabeth Barrall Werley, MD, FACEP us to take some much-needed downtimea well-earned break to unwind from the PACEP President 2025-2026 fast-paced world of emergency medicine. While PACEPs major events are more visible in the spring and fall, rest assuredweve remained hard at work this summer. This years theme, Our Community: EM Practice in PA, is especially meaningful to me, having made the transition from community practice to academics years ago.
