Wellness Committee Update PACEP Scientific Assembly: Fellowship and Family Michelle Appel, MD PACEP Wellness Committee Co-Chair For the past several years, PACEP has had its Scientific Assembly at Kalahari Resorts & Conventions in the Poconos. This has not only provided a central location for the conference amidst a large Commonwealth, but has allowed attendees to bring their families to experience the resort. Both of us Wellness Committee Co- Chairs were able to participate in the conference, while also enjoying a multi-generational family adventure. During the Scientific Assembly, we saw attendees bonding with colleagues, reuniting with former classmates, creating new connections, and spending meaningful time with their loved ones. This year, the Young Physician's Reception was reenvisioned to the “Happy to Be Here Hour,” which had an excellent attendance. We celebrated the winners of the Olympics and honored our recent ACEP Fellows. It was encouraging to see so many physicians early in their career attending the conference and engaged with PACEP. Scientific Assembly is more than just an opportunity to grow our minds, but to also grow as a friend, peer and physician. “Learning about the innovations and projects people are working on across PA, meeting residents and reconnecting with former medical student rotators during PACEP Olympics, and sharing stories with friends old and new helps “fill my cup” and reminds me why I love our specialty,” says Wellness Co-Chair Jenn Spinozzi, MD, FACEP. Having fun at the waterpark is a fun perk too! The PACEP Wellness/Young Physicians Committee is looking for new members! Please join our next meeting on June 23rd at 3:00 pm or reach out via email to maappel@geisinger.edu or jnspinozzi@ geisinger.edu. go back to page 9 PACEP Advocacy Update LEGISLATIVE SESSION DAYS Senate House Jun 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 29, 30 1, 2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 15, 16, 17, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 30 Sept 28, 29, 30 Oct 5, 6, 7, 19, 20, 21 Nov 9, 10 on November 5, 2025.
