ACEP Board Updates Chadd K. Kraus, DO, DrPH, CPE, FACEP ACEP Board Chair, PACEP Past President PACEP Colleagues, I’m excited to share some updates from the ACEP Board of Directors and the College with you. Board Meeting – March 19, 2026 The ACEP Board of Directors met virtually on March 19, 2026. SURVIVING SEPSIS GUIDELINES The Board ratified its decision to decline endorsing the “Surviving Sepsis Campaign Guidelines” The College is in the process. The College is working to convene a group of experts and to engage with other emergency medicine professional organizations to develop guidelines. The decision to not endorse the guidelines was based on concerns about conflicting guidelines for the treatment of adult and pediatric patients, and a belief that the guidelines developed do not fully reflect the most up-to-date and reality-based approach to the care of all patients in the emergency department, including those with sepsis. In addition, ACEP remains deeply concerned that the absence of Leadership and Advocacy Conference LAC26 was a huge success with over 400 attendees, informative educational sessions on policy issues impacting emergency physicians and our patients. Thanks to PACEP for again having strong representation and making our emergency medicine voice heard in Washington, DC. learn more on page 24 22 PACEP News
