Seeking Videos for #TrainInPA
PACEP and the PACEP Education Committee would like to promote
Pennsylvania residencies in its #TrainInPA campaign for the upcoming
recruiting and match season. Our request of PA residency programs that
would like to participate is to make a 20-30 second video promoting their
residency and the #TrainInPA campaign.
Videos will be uploaded to PACEP social media and allied organizations as
well as featured on the website to promote exposure to prospective
student applicants.
We request if you wish to participate in this campaign that you provide video to the
email exec@pacep.net, and close the video with “Train in PA”.
Patient course:
The patient was started on IV ceftriaxone,
vancomycin and metronidazole and transferred
to CHOP. The patient was taken to the OR for a
frontal craniotomy for abscess. ENT performed a
bilateral frontal endoscopic sinusotomy (FESS).
He was discharged a few days later with no
neurologic sequelae.
Relevance to EM:
This can occur after frontal bacterial sinusitis. The
frontal sinuses are not present at birth and there
is pneumatization and vascular development of
the sinuses during childhood. The sinuses are not
completely formed until adolescence. This diagnosis
requires surgical intervention. Seizures may occur
as a sequelae. Broad spectrum antibiotics are
recommended to cover multiple organisms.
