Through Participation in the 
CARES Registry 
High-quality emergency care depends on 
accurate data collection, meaningful performance 
measurement, and the ability to evaluate patient 
outcomes. The Pennsylvania College of Emergency 
Physicians (PACEP) EMS Committee strongly 
supports participation in the Cardiac Arrest 
Registry to Enhance Survival (CARES).
The CARES Registry serves as the nation's leading 
system for measuring and improving outcomes 
from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest by linking 
EMS, hospital, and outcome data. Participation 
provides valuable insights that can drive both 
quality improvement initiatives and scientific 
advancement.
Participation in CARES is an important component 
of modern EMS and emergency care systems. 
The EMS Committee strongly encourages EMS 
agencies, hospitals, and healthcare organizations 
to engage with the registry as part of their 
ongoing commitment to improving patient 
outcomes and advancing the science of 
resuscitation.
