to the importance of HB 2265 and physician-
led EDs. Talk to your department and hospital 
leadership, hospital government affairs offices, 
state hospital organizations, and especially your 
local state representatives. Let them know who 
you want caring for you or your loved ones when 
you walk into an Emergency Department. PACEP 
will continue to advocate for the patients of our 
state and is actively pursuing media and editorial 
opportunities to advance this cause.
Inappropriate Insurer Policies
PACEP has continued its advocacy efforts in 
recent months to ensure that Emergency 
Medicine physicians are fairly and appropriately 
compensated for the care, expertise, and critical 
services they provide. We are aware of recent 
policies implemented by insurance companies 
that seek to reduce reimbursement for certain 
services, including critical care time.  These 
efforts to reduce appropriate compensation place 
significant pressure on Emergency Departments 
and risk undermining the expertise, resources, and 
essential safety-net role that Emergency Medicine 
provides to our communities. PACEP is actively 
engaging with other stakeholders and advocacy 
partners to push back against these policies 
and ensure that appropriate reimbursement for 
Emergency Medicine services is protected.
If you have experienced denials or reductions in 
reimbursement for critical care services at your 
Emergency Department, we encourage you to 
reach out to PACEP. Sharing these experiences 
will help us better understand the scope of these 
practices across Pennsylvania and strengthen 
our efforts to advocate for Emergency Medicine 
physicians and the patients we serve.
Council
With these priorities in mind, PACEP will bring your 
voice to the ACEP Council, October 3-4, in Chicago, 
IL. For those who haven't yet experienced Council, 
this is our opportunity to represent Pennsylvania 
alongside other state chapters and sections in 
deliberating on the issues shaping Emergency 
Medicine. States and sections introduce and vote 
on resolutions that help set the direction and 
priorities for ACEP. It's our chance to voice our 
concerns, learn what other states are facing, and 
share ideas we can all benefit from. If you've never 
attended, I strongly encourage you to consider 
joining us in 2027.

As we look ahead to the second half 
of 2026, PACEP remains steadfast in 
its commitment to advocating for 
your issues as your College. We are 
grateful for your dedication to this 
specialty, especially during the busy 
summer months, and we're proud 
to stand alongside you in this work.
