PACEP Education  
Committee Update

PACEP Education Committee Chair
The PACEP Education Committee has been 
actively engaged in several strategic initiatives 
aimed at enhancing educational programming, 
strengthening member engagement, and 
expanding opportunities for emergency medicine 
students, residents, and practicing physicians 
throughout Pennsylvania. Recent committee 
discussions have emphasized moving beyond 
conference planning alone and developing a 
broader year-round educational mission. 
Looking Ahead to Scientific 
Assembly 2027
Planning efforts for future Scientific Assemblies 
are already underway. The committee is 
evaluating the long-term structure of PACEP's 
annual conference, including considerations 
such as conference format, scheduling, 
geographic location, breakout session design, 
and attendee experience. Early discussions are 
helping shape a vision for future meetings while 
ensuring the Scientific Assembly continues to 
meet the educational needs of Pennsylvania 
emergency physicians. 
In parallel, the Scientific Assembly planning 
leadership is being expanded, with active 
recruitment of volunteers and subject matter 
experts to participate in educational event 
development. Several returning educational 
offerings, including ultrasound programming, are 
already under discussion as planning progresses. 
Expanding Resident Engagement
A major focus identified for this year is the 
development of a resident-focused educational 
series. The committee is exploring recurring 
programming designed to connect emergency 
medicine residents across the Commonwealth 
through educational content, discussion, mentorship, 
and professional development opportunities. The 
goal is to create a consistent forum for residents to 
learn, collaborate, and build professional connections 
beyond existing annual events.  
The committee is also re-examining 
opportunities for regional resident programming. 
Feedback is currently being collected from 
emergency medicine residency program 
directors throughout eastern Pennsylvania 
regarding the potential return of an Eastern 
Pennsylvania Residents Day and other residency-
focused initiatives. This outreach is intended 
to identify educational needs, logistical 
considerations, and opportunities to better 
support residency programs across the region. 
Medical Student and Member 
Engagement
The Education Committee continues to collaborate 
with the Medical Student Committee (MSC) 
to strengthen educational programming and 
participation opportunities. Recent discussions 
focused on increasing committee involvement 
in MSC events and creating clearer pathways 
for Education Committee members to support 
student programming throughout the year.  
Additionally, committee leadership is exploring 
new approaches to member engagement, 
communication outreach, social media 
presence, and volunteer development. Members 
are being encouraged to contribute to projects
