b'FALL 2024EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE So, What Has PACEP BeenUp to So Far This Fall?By Jennifer L. Savino, DO, FACEPIts been an active and impactful season for PACEP. Below are some of the initiatives we have been working on. You will find additional details throughout this edition of the PACEP newsletter. PACEP is working with the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH), the Jennifer L. Savino, DO, FACEP Pennsylvania Medical Society (PAMED) and the Hospital and Healthsystem PACEP President 2024-2025 Association of Pennsylvania (HAP) on ED overcrowding. Chris Berry, MD, FACEP is leading the EMS/Pre-hospital Care Workgroup, and Blake Bailey, DO, MBA, FACEP is leading the Transfer to External Facilities Workgroup. We have PACEP members on each committee: Healthcare Workforce, Pediatrics, Primary Care/Behavioral Health, and Social Determinants of Health. The goal of these workgroups is to discuss the issues and potential solutions to reduce the pressures on Pennsylvania emergency departments and overcrowding. Recommended strategies will be presented to the Governor and the General Assembly. We are glad to be at the table with these other organizations and to be working on suggestions for such an important issueeffecting emergency departments across the state. PACEP supported two successful Residents Days. UPMC Harrisburg hosted Central PA Residents Day on September 4, and Jefferson hosted Eastern PA Residents Day One of our biggest pieceson September 11.
